Ben-Hur Rosario Queliza

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ben-Hur Queliza, who departed peacefully at home on July 3, 2026, surrounded by his beloved family. Born in San Carlos City, Pangasinan, Philippines, Ben was the youngest of 5 siblings and a selfless caregiver for his sister and mother following the passing of his father. He distinguished himself as a young leader in his community, notably serving as president for his high school class. He then excelled in nursing school, building strong friendships and earning top marks, before immigrating to New York in 1976. Through determination, hard work, and unwavering dedication, he built a life centered on faith, family, and caring for others. Those who knew Ben will remember his wonderful sense of humor and his remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome, valued, and included. He loved telling jokes and bringing laughter to those around him. Kind and encouraging, he was always there to offer supportive and uplifting words when needed most. Music was one of his greatest passions. He loved playing the guitar, singing, listening to music, and performing for family and friends. He also enjoyed playing chess and basketball, following sports, cooking delicious meals, and spending time with the people he loved. Above all else, Ben was a devoted husband of 45 years, a loving father, and a proud grandfather. His greatest purpose in life was his family, and he measured his success not by what he achieved for himself, but by the opportunities he created for others. He shared his passion for music by fostering his daughters’ musical talents and encouraging them to reach their highest potential. Nothing brought him greater pride than watching his children and grandchildren grow, and he found immense joy in celebrating their accomplishments. For the past decade, Ben endured prostate cancer with extraordinary courage and resolve. Sustained by his deep faith in God, he met each challenge with strength, hope, and grace, cherishing precious time with his family. He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Emma; his three daughters, Dianne, Karen, and Cindy; seven cherished grandchildren with another one expected; his brother, Abraham; and many extended family members and friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness, generosity, humor, and love. Although our hearts are broken by his passing, we find comfort in the countless memories he leaves behind. His laughter, music, devotion to his family, and embodiment of perseverance will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever carried in our hearts.
