Kenneth Kennedy

Kenneth Kennedy was born on March 2, 1951 in E. Meadow, NY to the late Mary Etta Kennedy and Willie Hawhins. Kenny grew up in Freeport, NY and graduated from Freeport High School in 1970. Kenny was one of FHS's prominent basketball players under the leadership of George Emma. Kenny continued his education at New York Institute of Technology and went on to earn an Associate's Degree from Nassau Community College. He was employed as a Community Liason Aide with the Freeport School District rendering 28 years of service before he took an extended leave to focus on his health. Kenny loved his job and although he was at times the "bearer of bad news", he never encountered any unpleasant conflicts. He loved working with the students and their parents, always encouraging the studentsto take their education seriously and to "stay in school and make a difference in life". It sometimes takes a village to raise a child and Kenny had a village of children. He always showed love and compassion for the children he served. He was a pillar of the community with a servant's heart and was truly an irreplaceable member of the Freeport School District. Kenny was caring, loving, kind, generous,and truly a very , very special person. He had a heart of gold, and to know him was to love him. Kenny loved the Lord and was a devoted member of Christ Like Baptist Church, Pastor Albert Jackson presiding. He taught Bible study and Sunday School. Kenny loved his family, especially his nieces and nephews, and we all loved him. He never complained during his illness as he was always optimistic and looked to God for his healing. He developed a special bond with his brother-in-law, Walter and his niece Shelly, whom he affectionately called "Dr. Clark and Nurse Shelly". Kenny leaves to cherish his fond memory: 2 devoted sisters Darnell mKennedy Calinda of Westbury, NY and Eloise Clark of Roslyn Heights, NY; 1 brother-in -law Walter Clark of Roslyn Heights, NY.;1 Aunt Martha Dixon of Greenvale, NC;; 1 Uncle Ernest Kennedy of Greensboro, NC; 2 Nieces Michelle Calinda and Allyson Millender (George); 2 Nephews, Micharl Clark (Nanette) and Marc Clark; 2 great-nieces: Shaye and Keier; 4 great- nephews: Richard, Kyle, Kai and Kendall; goddaughter Marqueitta Tuitt, and his extended family: Marion, Emily and Rico Moore and a host of cousins and friends. Kenny Dawg,(also called "Henry"), you fought a good fight; we will miss you and love you always. Kenny, as you say" Taint no telling waht you're doing now, walking down the Kings Highway".
