Family will meet Friday 10:00AM & Leave 10:30AM for burial at Roslyn Cemetery (10:45AM). Our staff may ask visitors to wait outside the chapel, outside the funeral home, or to keep their visit brief so as to allow others an opportunity to mourn. Some churches and cemeteries will have different limitations on attendance, and as such some visitors may not be able to participate in funeral or burial services. “Angel that Walked the Earth” Maltina Alvarado 1938 – 2021 Maltina Alvarado lived for her friends and family. She would not let a day go by without asking about everyone’s whereabouts and would inquire about family and friends daily - concerned and wondering how everyone was doing. The happiest moments of her life were when she spent time with her family, as only then she had certainty that they were all “okay”. Maltina had a comforting smile and a calm, healing demeanor that would bring many in distress comfort and security. She is described by many that knew her as an angel that walked the earth as she always put others before herself. There are many that recall her good deeds to help others in need. Some memorable qualities were her strength and valor as one would only know this by knowing her beautiful story. A story in which love and hope were ultimately the winner. In life, she was always radiating light and was someone that brought positive energy wherever she went. Maltina of Bayside, NY, was born in the Dominican Republic on September 28th, 1938. Although Maltina's heart was bigger than life itself, sadly, this bright star dimmed and her heart succumbed on January 29th, 2021 at the age of 82. Daughter of the late Josefa and Ramon Alvarado. Maltina was a mother, a sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. Maltina was preceded in death by her husband, Herminio Bernabe. She is survived by her children, Victoriana Raquel (Anthony), Maria Lus, Ricardo (Jackie), Marisol (Ted), Rosa Mirta, Susana (Mike) and Robin (Leo). Maltina’s life joys were also her grandchildren, Rachel (Adam), Hender (Dami), Angela, Leonardo, Kelsey, Kenneth, Theodore, Natalie and Sabrina. She is also survived by her dear great-grandchildren, Diana, Ian, Mary and Henry. Maltina will be missed by family and numerous friends. She always had a story to tell and words of encouragement and love. She supported everyone she knew and rooted for her family unconditionally. We are grateful that she had the opportunity to see the fruits of all she gave us. We are the family that we are, the individuals that we are because of the love she poured into us. We are sad to lose Maltina but most of all so appreciative of the full, blessed life she lived. No dejaba pasar un día sin preguntar por el paradero de todos y preguntaba sobre familiares y amigos todos los días, preocupada y preguntándose cómo estaban todos. Los momentos más felices de su vida fueron cuando pasó tiempo con su familia, ya que sólo entonces tuvo la certeza de que todos estaban “bien”. Maltina tenía una sonrisa reconfortante y una actitud tranquila y curativa que brindaba comodidad y seguridad a muchos en apuros. Muchos que la conocieron la describen como un ángel que caminó por la tierra, ya que siempre puso a los demás antes que a sí misma. Son muchos los que recuerdan sus buenas obras para ayudar a los necesitados. Algunas cualidades memorables fueron su fuerza y valor, ya que uno solo lo sabría conociendo su hermosa historia. Una historia en la que el amor y la esperanza fueron finalmente los ganadores. En la vida, ella siempre irradiaba luz y era alguien que traía energía positiva dondequiera que iba. Maltina de Bayside, NY, nació en la República Dominicana el 28 de Septiembre de 1938. Aunque el corazón de Maltina era más grande que la vida misma, lamentablemente, esta estrella brillante se atenuó y su corazón sucumbió el 29 de Enero de 2021 a la edad de 82 años. Hija de los difuntos Josefa y Ramón Alvarado. Maltina fue madre, hermana, tía, abuela y bisabuela. Maltina fue precedida en la muerte por su esposo, Herminio Bernabé. Le sobreviven sus hijos Victoriana Raquel (Anthony), Maria Lus, Ricardo (Jackie), Marisol (Ted), Rosa Mirta, Susana (Mike) y Robin (Leo). Los placeres de la vida de Maltina también fueron sus nietos, Rachel (Adam), Hender (Dami), Angela, Leonardo, Kelsey, Kenneth, Theodore, Natalie y Sabrina. También le sobreviven sus queridos bisnietos, Diana, Ian, Mary y Henry. Maltina será extrañada por familiares y numerosos amigos. Siempre tenía una historia que contar y palabras de aliento y amor. Apoyó a todos los que conocía y apoyó a su familia incondicionalmente. Estamos agradecidos de que haya tenido la oportunidad de ver los frutos de todo lo que nos dio. Somos la familia que somos, las personas que somos por el amor que ella derramó en nosotros. Estamos tristes por perder a Maltina, pero sobre todo agradecemos la vida plena y bendita que vivió.
