Sanchez, affectionately known as Don Manuel, who passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, in Roslyn Heights, NY. He was born on September 19, 1934, in Parral, Chile, and spent his early life in the vibrant city of Santiago before embarking on a courageous journey that would define his legacy. In May 1978, Manuel arrived in the United States, settling in Jackson Heights, NY, where he worked tirelessly to build a life for his family. A man of immense strength, intelligence, and honor, he held many roles throughout his life, always with pride, dignity, and a spirit of independence. He was his own boss in many ways, forging his own path in a new country. Incredibly, he taught himself how to navigate a different world, learning not just one, but two new languages, English and Italian so he could provide a better future for his small family. Manuel was a proud Chilean who deeply appreciated his roots. He found joy in the timeless rhythms of Tango music and enjoyed classic movies and Western films. He was quick with a joke and rich in stories, his tales could fill a room for hours and always left people smiling. Manuel was tough but loving-A strong-willed man with high expectations, yet always guided by a deep love and unwavering commitment to those he cared for. He believed in hard work, doing right by others, and raising his family with dignity and respect. Above all, Manuel was a man of principle who lived righteously and believed deeply in the importance of family. He was the devoted husband of Ana Sanchez, the beloved father of his only daughter Pamela Rosa, and the adoring grandfather to Ashley, Emily, and Chloe Rosa, who brought him endless pride and happiness. He had joy for life’s simple pleasures: making the world’s best chicken parmigiana, fixing anything with his own hands, watching boxing matches, enjoying watching soccer games, and challenging anyone to a game of chess. And he never let a day go by without showing love to his daughter, his “Coco,” as he often said with pride and tenderness. Manuel is survived by his loving wife Ana, his daughter Pamela, and his granddaughters Ashley, Emily, and Chloe.He is also survived by friends whose lives were touched by his warmth, humor, and unwavering devotion. The family will honor Manuel’s life in a private celebration, in accordance with his wishes.
