Susan Ellen Bria - Moss

Susan Ellen (Babbit) Moss, formerly Bria, 76, of Sayville, NY, passed away on May 13th, 2026 after a short illness. Susan was born on November 9, 1949 in Queens, NY to Seymour “Sy” and Pearl (Stark) and soon after moved to Jericho, NY, with her sisters Leslie and Jamie. Several years later Pearl and the girls headed back west to Lefrak City, Queens. There, Susan had the time of her life embracing hippie counterculture and music of the late 60s as she attended Newtown High School and met her first husband, Robert. Their marriage took them to buy a house on eastern Long Island where they had their son, Jordan. Susan’s long drive to work as a banquet manager at Leonard’s of Great Neck became too much so her family of three settled in Port Washington in 1979. As a young mother Susan loved spending time with her family (and cats) soaking up the sun at the beach and pool, playing backgammon and being a nurturing mom to Jordan. She enjoyed summer weekends at her father’s house in Westport, CT and Christmas’s at 920. She also loved her career in catering, working for almost 40 years at Westbury Manor and Chateau Briand where she forged lifelong relationships. Susan always had a story about a “bridezilla” she had met or of an extravagant party that she helped plan and execute. She was a fantastic saleswoman. And stylish! Susan adored being She-She to her grandchildren, Olivia and Chase, and was always eager to enjoy dance competitions, opportunities to cheer from the sidelines, a fireside chat, or capturing precious moments into one of her scrapbooks. Thirteen years ago she reconnected with her childhood friend Bert and found love again. Together they spent their golden years living on the water, traveling, dancing and laughing through life’s new adventure, highlighted by their 2022 nuptials. Susan is survived by her loving husband Bert Moss, her son Jordan Bria, his wife Ann Marie and her grandchildren Olivia and Chase. Her stepchildren Matthew and Brittney (Ilan) Chulak and their son Julian. Her sister Jamie Babbit, brother Lance (Yvonne) Babbit, Stepmother Stephanie Babbit and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Susan will forever remain in our hearts. A Visitation will be held on Monday, May 18th from 4-8pm at Roslyn Heights Funeral Home, 75 Mineola Blvd., Roslyn Heights, NY 11577.
