Harriet Alizio
June 11, 2019
Harriet Alizio of Mt. Sinai, NY. Passed on June 11, 2019 in her 70th year. Harriet was a beautiful, funny, and caring person. She was truly a devoted mother, sister, and friend. In her youth, Harriet loved to dance, even in toe shoes for the high school play. She won many beauty competitions, and was named Miss Queens. Harriet had a career with the New York Cosmos (see picture with Harriet and Pelé), though later chose to become a homemaker. She was the proud mother of two boys, Peter and Steven. Harriet loved children, and after Peter and Steven were fully grown, she went back to work in childcare as a nanny. She touched the lives of many children and their families. After being diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, however, Harriet had to retire from that work. She spent her remaining years at her home in Mount Sinai, New York, where she continued to emit the energy and love that was so unique to her. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed binge-watching dramas on Netflix. She was a worthy competitor in scrabble, and despite her battle with Parkinson’s Disease, she showed agility and style while playing charades. She will be missed. A Memorial Service will be held in her memory on Saturday June 29th from 12noon - 2:00PM at Roslyn Heights Funeral Home 75 Mineola Ave. Roslyn Heights, NY 11577. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to https://tribute.michaeljfox.org/tribute-page.php?id=1206&np=true
