Irene Craft, 94, passed away in her sleep at her home in Port Washington, NY on May 13, 2020. Irene was born in Queens, New York and grew up in Elmhurst. She was a 1947 graduate of Queens College and received her Master’s degree in Special Education in 1969 from Hofstra University. She was a Special Education teacher for over twenty years until her retirement. Irene's long time passion was art; she especially enjoyed painting and sculpting. Up until the age of 90, she enjoyed holding art and writing classes for her neighbors at the Hadley House. Irene was smart, independent, spiritual, and a great lady. She was preceded in death by her daughter Virginia Craft and her sister Marion Gallagher. Surviving are her children Michael Craft and his wife Cindy of Rockville Centre, NY, daughter Patricia (Craft) Pfaff and her husband Christian of Greensboro, NC, two granddaughters and their spouses, three great grandchildren and her brother Arthur Stevens and his wife Marian of Jenkintown, PA. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Irene's memory to your favorite charity. Because of the current national health crisis, no memorial service is planned at this time.
