Lola Lopez

Lola Lopez-Montalvo, of South Ozone Park, NY at the age of 88 years, took the last train to Heaven Station on May 30th, 2019, where her family was alongside to wish her well on her new journey. In hospice care prior to her death, lost her battle with lung cancer, Lola died peacefully in her sleep. As a beloved wife, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she leaves behind her husband Gerardo; son Luis and daughter Angelica; grandchildren Erick, Anthony and Elizabeth; and great grandchildren Alessandro and Sophia. And many much-loved nieces and nephews, in-laws and friends. She has always been an active person. From a very young age, she enjoyed riding horses at her family’s farmland and take strolls on sunny days at local vineyards. She loved being outdoors working on her garden. Following her parents’ steps, Lola impressed people through her life as a natural leader and entrepreneur, she was admired for her values and integrity. She was an accomplished retail business owner with her husband. Lola would spend hours cooking and prepare big banquets for her entire family. When lunch or dinner were ready, she didn’t call your name, she would yell out “food is ready” and within minutes everyone was gathered at the dinner table to enjoy the feast. Lola was a true fashionista, she enjoyed shopping, so she kept her wardrobe overstocked on the latest trends, she always liked casual elegance. She loved family get-togethers, singing and dancing to tango and folklore music during holidays and birthdays. Lola brought laughter and love, guaranteed. Her most precious moments were celebrating milestones, as the graduation of her three grandchildren, to which she successfully paved their roads to become professionals. Lola cherished time spent with her great grandchildren, as she impatiently waited to become a “Granny” and proudly held them for the first time as newborns. Lately she enjoyed her summers at Cedar Beach on Long Island, where Alessandro and Sophia made her run, jump, swim and play. Knowing and loving each of her family members was a success story of her life. Long known for her positive outlook on life and her sense of humor, Lola was a mentor and will always be our pillar. Leaving behind a legacy, her job here was completed to perfection. We will treasure her unique laugh, her warmth, her energy, her love for family and friends. This is not a goodbye, it is just until we meet again. Buona giornata Nonnina, di tutte le stelle, tu sei la più bella nel cielo. ARRANGEMENTS: As she wished, cremation was private. A memorial service will be held celebrating her life on June 4th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the Roslyn Heights Funeral Home, located at 75 Mineola Ave Roslyn Heights, NY 11577. Should friends desire, donations may be made in her name, to a cancer research of your choice.
