Catholic, Protestant & Unitarian Funeral Services

Catholic Services

Roslyn Heights Funeral Home is proud of our working relationship with the Catholic churches in our community: St. Mary’s Roslyn, St. Peter of Alcantara, St. Mary’s Manhasset, St. Aidan Williston Park, Our Lady of Fatima Manorhaven, St. Paul the Apostle Brookville. We’ll help you plan your services with these churches, or any other church you select.

Our direct communication with the church will ensure you can smoothly design and personalize your service. Even if you don’t attend a specific church in our community, our experience and relationships will allow us to connect you with the resources you’ll need for your funeral services.

Catholic funerals observe many rites and traditions, and there are several choices to be made when planning, including the reading of Bible passages, music, and special prayers.

For a Catholic service, cremains are buried or placed in an above ground niche. Before cremation, you can have a viewing with an open casket, or a wake with a closed casket. You can choose to have a mass or not. In addition to the mass, you can also hold a vigil, a powerful moment of reflection for friends and family.

Vigils, wakes and viewings are creative ways to personalize your remembrance. You might play your loved one’s favorite music at a wake, and eulogize with shared stories. You can display cherished objects and photos to help tell the life story of the deceased.

We will also assist you in choosing a cemetery, whether a Catholic cemetery or another type. It is our honor to help you utilize all the options for a Catholic service in the ways that best help you.

You can choose to have a church service or not. You can also hold a vigil, a powerful moment of reflection for friends and family.
